The community of McCloud was created as a company town to house the employees of the McCloud River Lumber Company. As the business of the lumber mill declined, the McCloud Community Services District (MCSD) was created in 1966 to provide the local services previously delivered by the lumber company. As an independent district authorized and regulated by state statutes, MCSD does not rely on the county for fiscal or administrative oversight.
To learn more about MCSD, visit their website at: http://www.ci.McCloudcsd.ca.us
In December 2004, the McCloud Community Services District prepared a detailed "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQ) document answering 50 commonly asked questions about the proposed NWNA project. A copy of that document may be obtained free-of-charge from the MCSD offices, or by clicking on the following link (this file is about 1 Megabyte in size and may download slowly depending on your Internet connection speed).

MCSD currently provides water, sewer, refuse collection, street lighting, snow plowing and road maintenance, ambulance, fire protection, park and library services to the community. Fire, ambulance, park and library services are supported by voter-approved special taxes. All other services are funded by monthly fees.
